Big Tuna is a gentle giant. He is very social with people and especially loves meeting new humans. Big Tuna is a horse that students on blue level of horsemanship love to ride. He follows their lead and can be intune with his rider.
Blaze is a fireball just like his name. Students riding Blaze need to communicate effectively with him. When he knows that the rider is in charge, he follows instructions well. Students on blue level enjoy riding Blaze.
Gatsby is a horse who needs a lot of love. She can be nervous, but responds well to students once she trusts them. Gatsby enjoys being ridden by students who are on red level.
Phantom is very laid back--at times almost too laid back. He is gentle, but needs firm direction and effective communication from his rider. Once he knows you are in charge, he is great to ride. Students on red level are able to ride Phantom.
Rain is one of the oldest horses at Kolob Canyon and has officially retired from our horseback riding program. Students still love working with Rain in Equine Therapy. While she loves people, she doesn't like other horses as much so you often find her in the pasture by herself.
Onyx is a gorgeous girl. She is Meridian's sister. Onyx has a lot much energy, but is very polite with the students and other horses. She is being trained for riding by our Equine Director.
Meridian is one of our younger horses. She is the sister of Onyx. They look almost identical and we often call them the twins. Meridian is very mellow, but not as polite as her sister. She is working on gaining good trail manners.
Cove was born at Kolob Canyon as part of our horse breeding program. The students have worked with Cove to help her accept the saddle and reins. She participates in Equine Therapy with our students and also is part of our horseback riding program.
Moxie is a calm young horse. Along with Cove, she is one of our youngest horses. Moxie is accepting of the students who are working to teach her skills such as wearing a bridle and good trail skills. You can often find Moxie with Cove.
Marquis is the newest horse at Kolob Canyon. Marquis is a wonderful horse and works well with our students both in Equine Therapy and as part of our horsemanship classes.
Lyric is such an energetic force on our campus. Lyric loves to be wherever our students are. Lyric can sometimes be a bit naughty and loves to chase any cats that might be around.
